We are the World

Currently, I really like the song, We are the World, by Michael Jackson. I like both the new and old versions, but I think I like We are the World-25 for Haiti better because I know and can identify the artists.
In We are the World-25 for Haiti, there are artists including Justin Bieber, Jennifer Nettles (lead singer of Sugarland), Celine Dion, Will.I.Am, P!nk, Usher, Josh Groban, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Orianthi, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Mraz, Jordin Sparks, Isaac Slade (The Fray), Jamie Foxx, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas, Julianne Hough, Randy Jackson, Tony Bennet, Brian Wilson (the Beach Boys), Carlos Santana and many more! If you have not seen either version, or even if you have, I recommend checking them out!

SCC

Hey everyone! I haven't had many posts recently because I have been busy, so since I had a chance, I thought I would catch up on posting. The idea for this post was given to me by a friend at school named Samuel-thanks!

I am a Christian and I attend a wonderful church by the name of Southland Christian Church. It is VERY populated, and is a very large building:

Though it is very large and you meet new people everyday, there is a strong feeling of warmth and being welcome there, a family kind of feeling. I am not sure exactly how many people attend weekly, but I think it is around 10,000. They have four services on Sunday mornings: 8am, 10am, 10:10am, 11:30am. You can wear anything you wish to church there. On a normal day, you will see traditional church dresses and ties, as well as ripped jeans and hoodies. You are welcome there, no matter who you are or what you look like.

Every week, they offer amazing worship music and wonderful lessons from the Bible, usually led by our pastor, Jon Weece. Check out his blog at:
http://www.southlandchristian.org/blogs/jonweece/

Jon delivers the weekly messages in modern terms, making analogies with the stories using things from the 21st century, making it easy to understand for young children, and funny too. Every week he makes the entire audience laugh, and they are always related to the message. You should come check it out some week, it is located at:
5001 Harrodsburg Road
(Harrodsburg Rd & Brannon Rd)
Nicholasville, KY 40356
(859) 224-1600

If you cannot get out to the church, but have a little bit of time on your hands, you can watch videos of the service on their website, at:
http://www.southlandchristian.org/series/list/

I absolutely love my church, and they have a cafe too! They serve Starbucks coffee and donuts, danishes, hot chocolate, and other breakfast-y items for a nice price.

I have not always gone to Southland, but when I was born, that was the church I went to. Then, we felt that it was too large so we moved to Southern Acres Christian Church. We were there from my kindergarten years until 4th/5th grade. Then, SACC changed pastors and the entire church changed, we didn't like the changes so we went church hunting. We found a nice LITTLE church, (emphasis on the little) called Centerpointe Christian Church, and stayed there for about a year, but we never really felt like it was meeting our needs, so, we decided to go back to our original home, SCC, and found that we are most comfortable there. I love SCC! :)

My spring break...

Hey guys! I am finally back from my wonderful spring break trip to the outer banks, a string of islands that are a part of North Carolina. Yes, our family was daring and wore our UK wear while in NC, though I was afraid they would eat us alive. :D Thankfully, they did not! We stayed in Kill Devil Hills, right by Nags Head. And yes, they have funny names, including a town called, Duck. (I laughed my head off at that one...) We arrived at our resort late Saturday afternoon and left yesterday at about 12:30, after visiting one last lighthouse. In total, we saw 5 lighthouses and went up in 1 lighthouse. While on the trip, we visited Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Roanoke Marshes Lighthouses, Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Ocracoke Island Lighthouse. At the first lighthouse, I got the bright idea to do a handstand in front of the lighthouse, Bodie Island Lighthouse, and have my dad take a picture. After that, I did a handstand in front of anywhere we went or anywhere that looked cool/we had fun there. So, most of the pictures I have to show you in this post consist of my wobbly, off -balance, bad form handstands. In some of the pictures, it was pouring rain, in some it was windier than you can ever imagine, and sometimes, I was just flat out lazy. So, for your pleasure, here are the pictures. The numbers in front of the captions indicate which happened first, second, last, etc.
1.) Bodie Island Lighthouse

2.) Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

8.) Currituck Beach Lighthouse. (I am on the left, and the one that looks like they are falling down on the right is my bro, Tyler, he was attempting a handstand for fun. He did a good job but the camera got him falling down...) This is also the lighthouse we went up in. My legs still hurt from the long walk up the spiral stairs...

5.) Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse

6.) Jockey's Ridge Sand Dunes

4.) Ferry to Ocracoke Island, beautiful sunset

7.) On the beach, getting ready to fall over, my even younger bro, Jared, giving me a thumbs-up
3.) Ocracoke Lighthouse
I will post about the trip in another post, but I wanted to go on and get these pictures posted first! :) Thanks for reading and I hope you had a great spring break 2011!

I'm Back!

Okay, sorry, I haven't done a post in about two-ish weeks. While those two weeks have passed, I went to Washington D.C. with my school! It was such a great and fun experience! I would post the pics, but my camera is still having technical difficulties, so I will post the low-res ones taken by my phone. The pics are coming ASAP! If you want to see some photos of the DC Trip from my friend's camera, check out her blog posts on the trip!
 http://raindropsandpaper.blogspot.com/
She is doing multiple posts to get all the pics in, based upon the day/time of day. Check it out, some of them I don't have pics of either-even though I took over 400 pics the whole trip! Yes, I will have a hard time choosing which ones to show you...

I also have a haul post on the way, over a bunch of new, (well not a bunch, but you know what I mean) Clinique products! :) Love you guys, follow me if you aren't already!

Winterjam is tomorrow!

I am so excited for Winterjam and am going to be doing Winterjam a lot differently this year than I have before. I will be going with a large group of other people and waiting about 6 hours in line before the doors open! :) I am excited because my friends have said that it is the best part, so I am very anxious, but I have been sick. I have had stomach churning pain, migraines, scratchy sore throats for two days now and I am a little scared that I will be sick tomorrow in line or sick in the morning when I get up. Pray that I will be healthy long enough to go to this concert and that everything will go smoothly for me! :) I will tell you all about it, hopefully on Sunday and I am hoping to get some pics, but that depends on my camera. Love ya! -Katelyn

One week until DC!

Me sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, looking out at the Washington Monument-at night! :)
Tomorrow, Friday, March 11, 2011, is the day that marks ONE WEEK until we leave for Washington D.C.! I am sooo very excited! As far as I know, my roomies are Saba, Sara, and Angela ('cause Julia isn't going...), and we are leaving at 5 in the morning! That part kills me! I am physically incapable of waking up that early, let alone looking half-way decent that early. There is no school Friday, so unfortunately, we aren't missing any school :( and we will be returning to Lexington on Sunday at approx. 10pm, but the school still expects us to come the next day... hmmm something wrong with that picture??? Anywho, I know that I am excited and that some of my friends are. If you haven't read my other post about my last D.C. trip, then I will repeat it. This will be my 3rd time to D.C. and I hopefully will be going again this summer to stay with my aunt who lives in D.C. one mile from the White House! :) That's all for now.

Extreme Makeover: Blog Edition

As you can tell, (if you are reading this) I have been working on reconstructing my blog! I have been playing around with different color schemes, fonts, backgrounds, layouts, etc. Special thanks to www.thecutestblogontheblock.com
for the background! They have completely free backgrounds for multiple purposes, including blogs... who knew? :) Tell me what you think of the new design, and any suggestions! :)

P.S. Who are you voting for on American Idol Season 10? My faves are Scotty McCreery and Thia Megia! I absolutely adored Jaycee, but unfortunately, he didn't make it to the top 24... :( Tell me what you think of Idol, who you think will win, who you want to win, and what you think of the brand new judges panel with J-Lo, Steven Tyler, and the not-so-new Randy. :)

Have a great rest of your day and happy reading!
            Love ya,
                Katelyn

My new Obsession!

I have a new obsession: fashion magazines. My current favs are Marie Claire, InStyle, Vogue, and Elle. This month's girl on the cover of Elle is..... Katy Perry! Yay! I do not have subscriptions to anything other than Marie Claire, but I have at least one issue of the others listed above. Marie Claire's covergirl is Miley Cyrus, InStyle: Julianna Moore, and Vogue: Lady GaGa! In the Marie Claire issue of the month, Miley is trying way too hard to be an adult, even though she is now 18, she is trying to speed up her aging in every way except wrinkly skin.

I love looking at some of the crazy Prada, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Coco Chanel, Michael Kors, Banana Republic (My favorite!), Juicy Couture, etc. outfits and accessories.

My least favorite part about the magazines though, is most of hair and makeup. This is because most of it is so dramatic and out of this world that I cannot learn anything from it. I love the Juicy Couture advertisements and the Coco Chanel makeup though... :)

Okay, so here's the thing

My favorite part about blogs and making blog posts is the pictures. (If you haven't noticed...) Unfortunately, my supposed-to-be-amazing Kodak camera doesn't want to function with my computer, it will function with any other (I have tried), but not my own. :( This is disappointing to me because I like looking at things with pictures, it makes what I am reading easier for me to understand and more enjoyable to look at. I am trying to fix the comp. problem, but it will probably take awhile. I am working on it though, and for the time being, I will just take pics with my phone (I have been doing this already, that is why some pics are worse than others-sorry) and send them to my email so I can post them.... this post is pretty much pointless so I really don't know why I am writing about it-whatever, I don't really care.
